Hi. Good luck!

Couple of thoughts:

1. Their "concerns" seem vague the way you have put it. Have you thought of just straight out asking them what their concerns are? Like, are they afraid you're going to use it for p*rn or to spay on people? Asking them what they are worried about might help you figure out what's going on.

2. Do you have something in particular you are interested in, like occasions/events, concerts, portraits, animals, sports? You don't have to shoot only that, of coruse, but maybe if you tell them "I want to be a [THIS KIND] photographer," they'll feel more confident the camera is not a toy that you'll become bored with.

Alright. So, uhm. I've always loved photography, and just recently, I asked my parents to buy me a digital camera, to be specific the Canon EOS 550D. They have no problem with me having this type of professional camera, however, they are questioning my intentions. When they ask me, what type of photography I plan to do, I couldn't really give them a proper answer. Perhaps someone can help me convince them? The reason why I love photography is because I love the fact that you can capture a moment just before it passes. So, I guess. The type of photography I plan to do is to to just keep capturing whatever catches my interest. However, I don't think that this would be enough to convince them. A little help, please?

I do a little of a few things: nature, macro, landscape, travel, promotional, abstract. In terms of offering services, I'm drawn to commercial/promotional/product photograpy. I'm not real comfortable with the idea of things like weddings or potrait photography, though I would give them a try if asked. I prefer some distance from my subjects. Still life is my favorite.

When I'm just shooting on my own or looking for possible prints to sell, I like drama, visual interest, good use of color/strong color presence. I have done very little black and white photography. I really don't enjoy it all that much.

I like to shoot a variety of things too but my favorite is food photography, and I do a lot of generic commercial stock photo stuff too.

I love taking... errr trying to take landscape shots but so far I'm not so hot at that :)

Boudoir Portraits was not on the list, I thought portraits is too broad for this type. Mostly Artistic Photography, not the normal headshots. But like that other guy said us newbies shoot everything!

Aviation. With an emphasis on antiques and WWII warbirds. Railroad locomotives, again with an emphasis on the old steam engines that are still being kept alive by volunteers much like the old aircraft. Occasionally I'll also do architecture (skyscrapers and old, heavily ornamented art deco buildings) and landscapes. All of the above I stitch into large format photos of 100-300 megapixels in order to capture the details.
