I'm very surprised that most of these type polls, never mention the D5000.

Looking at specs, the D5000 looks better than the D50 and D40, but I'm always seeing them listed in mags etc, and I've hardly ever seen anything on the D5000.

Is there something I don't know about the D5000? I personally love it, it's my first dSLR, but I was so impressed with the pics compared to other point and shoot digital cameras I've had in the past.

I'm very new to the game, and still don't really know half of what I can do, but this thing has impressed me so many times.

I am just getting back into photography after a long hiatus~raising a family and hectic career. I have had my Canon EOS 50D, since August, 2009. I would highly recommend this camera. It is very user friendly, (especially if you read the manual), fast, great color, and offers a variety of lens to meet most photographers requirements. I primarily use it for nature photography and I am thus far quite pleased with the results. Like anything else you need to practice to perfect your skills.

Greetings,
Have had a Rebel XT for a while and enjoyed thoroughly. Then I scheduled a trip to Africa (Uganda and Kenya) for last February. Feeling 8mp with the XT wasn't sufficient I splurged and got a Canon 7d. It's fantastic. I shot both still and movies with excellent results -- once I realized that the AF on the 7d is so sensitive that it would focus on leaves instead of the leopard in the tree. Then I went to manual focus. All is well and now I'm busy shooting my grandson. He's faster than a cheetah in full stride.

The K7, Pentax flagship is a great value. I can't cram in all of the reasons why I would seriously consider buying it over the big 2 names, because my arguement is quite long. I also understand that Pentax has a larger market share in the European union and Asia. Americans should start looking at Pentax, as they have some proprietary technology that is industry leading. ie. In body shake reduction

Hello everyone,
I'm still in the thought process of choosing a dslr and I'm looking at the Cannon XT1i since it is an entry level camera. Does anyone have this camera? Could you tell me the pros and cons of it? I appreciate any feedback! Thanks, Sue

It's strange that the EOS 450D (Rebel XSi) isn't among the top ten, considering its high popularity after its predecessor, the EOS 400D (Rebel XTi). Then again, the statistics on Flickr may reflect the true picture (pun not intended) - there seems to be a lot more photos taken with the XTi uploaded to Flickr than the XSi.

I wish I had the budget for the EOS 40D, after I tried out my cousin's 40D it felt really solid in my hands. With his EF 24-105mm f4 L lens and battery grip attached, it sure felt like a ton compared to my EOS 450D!

i defiantly recommend Canon or Nikon when it comes to dSLRs. most models are cheap, and very reliable. Olympus is a very good brand, but wayyyyyyyyy over priced. and Sony? well...they make good point and shoot cameras, as well as their handycam camcorders, but they are fairly new to the dSLR market.
