I like this presentation for the contest winners better than the 1st, 2nd, 3rd format. One winner and several other runner ups. An explanation of why you chose them as runner ups would be even more helpful to others entering future contests.
Check out the way strobist did it.

Maybe we can see a change in 2010?

Hi Eric, I just thought it would be nice to present them sort of differently at whatever o’clock it was this morning… David does go into a bit more detail then we do here – his assignments are a little more specific as well, but there may be change on the horizon – who can tell!
I’ll tell you why I chose my runner up (The last image) I loved the overall look of the image, for “best of 2009″ it had to be something that jumped out at me and said “yeah, you want me printed really big, on your wall” and that shot, I would have printed really big and on my wall The light and feel of it combined with the dark space said “winner” to me – but we have 13 moderators, and they all have their own ideas – thus, a winner was chosen (The snowy shadow shot) by being chosen by more than one of our mods.
I hope that helps?
Sime

Just stopping in and I love what I see. All of them have one thing in common: Drama! Loads of it. Whether from colour, tones or composition. Fantastic selection!

Wow, the little girl in sunlight is remarkable! Great pics, and I second the motion for contests to be judged similarly…one winner and a bunch of runners-up.
