I bought this for my husband’s desk at work. He LOVES it! It has a crystal clear picture quality, is the perfect size for his desk, doesn’t take up too much room, yet is very stylish and draws your eye to it. We love all the options it has. It takes all our different camera cards. The one thing that we really wish it had was the ability to play by file name.

I have seen that these days, more and more people will be attracted to video cameras and the subject of images. However, as a photographer, you have to first spend so much of your time deciding the model of photographic camera to buy along with moving store to store just so you might buy the cheapest camera of the brand you have decided to pick. But it does not end right there. You also have to consider whether you can purchase a digital digital camera extended warranty. Thx for the good suggestions I accumulated from your web site.

I am a beginner, ive just been taking landscape pictures with a normal camera and people have been saying how good they’re and that i should buy a decent camera. I’m not very sure on what camera to buy, and i came across this and the reviews seem good. Is this a good camera to buy? I want something easy to use, not to difficult, but i want something that is decent to take some good shots with and also not too expensive.

Sony dsc hxi camera’s smallest aperture is 8.So if you want to photograph a waterfsll in daylight for about 4 secs.your photo will be overexposed as you cannot use nd or polarizer filters,so what can you do.please help

dsc hxi lens smallest aperture is 8,so when you want to photograph something like a waterfall at about2or 4 seconds,does not the photo get overexposed,and this camera cannot be fixed with nd or polrizer filters.please help

to Brad: kathi said p90 and not d90. the p90 is a nikon superzoom (same category) not d90 which is dSLR
to kathi: p90 has 24x zoom is bigger and 640×480 video to hx1′s 20x zoom lighter and smaller and 1440×1080 video and cmos that gives you good speed. the only thing wrong is the memory stick duo pro of the sony.

If video is important… then the Sony is the better option… Video on the D90 has some limitations, and just isn’t very easy to use… especially with any kind of action. Enjoy your new Sony…

The tool versus toy description twigged my thinking. I’m looking for a replacement for my SONY dsc-S75 which I have had since 2001. It has been a terrific camera. Very tough and has survived many drops, even one in the lake but I want a better zoom and faster ready time between shots plus I love to have the movie mode so I think I will go with the HX1 instead of an SLR digital. It is so hard to make up my mind!
