I have a few favorites that I shot in this series. It was planned in a fashion. The week prior to this I was in West Texas and saw the best sunset that i could ever recall and I did not have my camera. I was scheduled to be in the area the following week and brought my Nikon D200, tripod, remote shutter release and several lenses. I used the 18-200 Nikon lens and shot in manual mode, bracketing to see what I wound up with. This series still did not live up to the prior week's sunset, but you will just have to take my word fo rit

These two (Baby and Jake) have been pasture mates for years, and they're the bullies of the group. Even so, Jake is much older than his friend, and in this picture he's looking at Baby much like a grandfather would look at a young boy. I was using the horse's mid-day snack as an opportunity to photograph them while they were standing still, and I ended up with a favorite shot!

Big Horn Sheep: http://www.flickr.com/photos/marcy0414/1348101449/in/set-72157601786170233

I hiked up to the top of Mt. Washburn in Yellowstone with my husband and two children. We saw a herd of big horn sheep in the distance, and as we kept hiking, we moved closer to them, and they moved closer to us. Before we knew it, we were both on the same path and crossing each other! There were about 15 animals in the herd. In this photo, a young sheep and an adult crossed right in front of us. While the photo is just an example of being in the right place at the right time and snapped on a point and shoot camera, it is one of my favorite photos. It was thrilling being so close to these beautiful animals. It was a little scary, too. My younger boy was nine years old, and I kept my body between him and the larger animals. We stayed very still and quiet, and they all passed in front of us and went on their way.

Like most everyone else, I don't know if this is my best shot but it certainly is my favorite. It was a beautiful day and I was really enjoying a walk down a bike path in Cleveland. I'm a new photographer so when I get what I think is a good shot, I'm really pleased. I have just a Coolpix L100 which I really like but considering its my first camera, I don't have anything to compare it with.

If I had to pick a favorite among the many shots I took I think it would have to be my first successful lightning shot. Taken with a Pentax D110 that I had purchased just days before and not knowing a darn thing about it, I was totally surprised at the result.
