@Pravesh: You may buy any camera within your budget to start with. If you select the option DSLR, make sure you have budget for buying extra lenses and good quality flashes. The most important part of photography is understanding light and composition. If you can manage to understand these two and appropriate usage of post-processing, you can make stunning photos with any camera. If and when you get stuck with your current camera, you wont need to ask which camera to buy in any forum...you'll know that by that time. Enjoy photography.

Hi I am new to photography my husband and I are going to Canada and Alaska in June hence the need for a new camera. Being totally NEW to DSLR cameras and photography in general we were tossing up between a Nixon D90 or D7000 now our friends say we should buy a Canon EOS so now totally confused we want to buy the camera soon so we can use the next four months on courses to learn how to use the camera and photography in general. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jean-Pierre
Forget the 2i and the 3i check out the canon 60D its a very nice camera Pentax is a nice camera but i think canon is by all means better canon has more lens to pick from and canon lenses are some of the best lenses you can get. If you look at most of the pros they use canon or nikon theres a reson for that there a better camera.I am a freelance photographer and have been for years i have used pentex i always went back to canon. And i dont know why anyone would pay 100 dollars more for the canon 7D the 60D is just as good at taken photos. as the 7D and yes the 7D has some things the 60D dosent BUT not enough to worent spending 100 dollars or more with the money you would save buying the 60D spend it on good lenses .Ihave the 60D i Love that camera besides without good lenses you wont get realy good photos in my opinon for that reson i think the 60D is a better deal i have compared photos from the 60D and 7D and with the same lens the 60D was just as clear and just as sharp it all comes down to lenes and how well you know how to use the settings so like i have said many many times before READ THE CAMERA MANUAL..And go out shot and shot some more and lear as much as you can have fun.Peace Don

Jean-Pierre, you said T3i can use manual focus lenses? Something to consider.

Thx very much for the input!

T3i vs t2i: t3i adds video snapshot, manual audio adjustment, 3-10 times crop mode. Swivel screen aids with video, manual focus for macro photography and using vintage (manual focus) lenses.

4/3 camera: my wife has the gf1 and It's awesome! Great image quality and fun to use.

Pentax k5: larger sensor than 7d Canon camera. Great lowlight. Photo rendering is beautiful.

Hi Tallulah
I too have a K7 and I have found it to be a great camera. But before you buy try it with your lenses to make sure they do work. facebook has a K7 site where Pentax K7 owners put on their photos this may help you in seeing what it can do.

regards Jeff

Thanks for the response, Pixor. One reason why I've been considering a Pentax K5 is because my current SLR is a Pentax ME and the guy at the local camera shop said that the lens from the Pentax SLR would also work on the DSLR, so I could save myself a bit of money on buying a wide angle and zoom lens for a while, until I could afford a macro lens and better zoom lens. I'll have to check out the Canon DSLR I guess, especially as it's cheaper than the Pentax.
