Just as an update to this post. The Photography 101 series of posts (which can still be found on DPS) were updated and significantly expanded and turned into the Photo Nuts and Bolts ebook. The first in the Photo Nuts series.

This is great, exactly what I’ve been looking for! I was fairly proficient about 20 years ago with my Nikon FG (I NEVER used the auto or program mode), but then I had kids and got a camera that did all the thinking for me, and I forgot how to think. Now, I have a Nikon D90 that I am very intimidated by. I can’t wait to start! Thank you in advance!

I stumbled on part 8 of this series when I did a Google search for metering. For those who are looking for the other topics in this series go to the link below – part 8 has links to parts 1-7 (a search for photography 101.1, photography 101.2, etc will also work). It would be nice if this could be found under the Tips and Tutorials.

Great! Great! Great! Ive been learning alot from you guys since i bought my dslr a week ago, i think this w0uld benefit a l0t newbie (like me) since we really d0nt have any c0mpact kn0wledge ab0ut ph0t0graphy, and we kinda get s0me rand0m kn0wledge out of too many diff. Websites, books, video tut0rials, etc. Im really l0oking forward to next m0nday.

P.S. Is there s0meone, like interested to be like my seni0r here in this site, i mean s0meone who can check my work, and like be my mentor, or lets just say be m0re like a teammate.. Thanks in advance

I think this is a wonderful idea!!!
It will be a great backbone to this website and its format.
An extension of this about technique would also be very complimentary maybe from professionals and serious amateurs!
