MOTHERS: Weekend Photography Challenge
As many people around the world are celebrating Mothers Day this weekend we thought that Mothers might make a good theme for the photography challenge this week.
You may, of course, take the theme in any direction. You might wish to capture and share a moment on your mothers day, you might like to take a portrait of your mother, if you’re a mother you might like to photograph something that sums up what it means to be a mother…. or you might want to take a different approach altogether and photograph something on the theme of ‘mother earth’…. pretty much anything goes.
Once you’ve taken your ‘Mother’ photos – choose your best 1-2, upload them to your favorite photo sharing site and share a link to them here in comments below.
If you tag your photos on Flickr, Twitter or other sites with Tagging tag them as #dPSMOTHERS to help others find them. Linking back to this page might also help others know what you’re doing so that they can share in the fun.
PS: if you enjoy these kinds of challenges, don’t forget that each week in our forum we run a photography assignment section where you’re also given a theme and can take a shot to share with the dPS community.

My Mother Passed away 3 years back, and i miss her a lot, and have a deep love for all the mothers around the world and try to capture their emotions during my travels.
This one, I captured in the Kalash Spring Festival, Hindukush, Pakistan.

Me and my hubby is expecting our little boy to arrive around the 4 of June. Here is our favourite picture of my belly we took the other day. I did all the camera settings and my hubby took the actual picture with my guidance. I <3 it!

So I just upgraded my camera and lens from an old Digital Rebel (1st Gen) with a kit lens to a 50D and an 70-200 F/4L. I’ve been playing around with it all week and this is a perfect shot for the “Mother” theme.
I’m not a pro at all but hopefully with some practice and tips on here I’ll get better!

Mother and baby… taken on Mothers Day 2010.

This pic was taken 2 year ago. I had gone home for vacation after 6 months and my parents were very happy. I was sitting beside my mom and suddenly my Kodak cam caught my eyes which lying on the sofa. I took it and was showing the pics to mom which I had taken during my college days. I just wanted to take a photo wit mom but dad was not there at that moment. So I just tried a self portrait and the result was this pic. It had came very nicely than my expectation. While taking the pic my mom was not aware that I am going to take a photo. Right now am studying at IIT Delhi very far from my home. I have put this photo in a frame and kept it on my study table. This is a very special photo for me. A mother’s love toward her child, which can not be expressed in words, is perfectly portrayed in this photo, I feel. I thank DPS for given me an opportunity to share this photo and my words. HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY mom! I LOVE YOU A LOT.

This was the last time I saw my Grandma. She was 2 weeks short of turnng 88 years old. She passed away April 14th. She is survived by 3 sisters, 10 children, 32 grand children and soon to be 23 great grand children.
This was taken in her room with my mom holding her hand while she slept. That day, she remembered who I was and called me by name and smiled. Such a great memory to have.[img]
