thanks for this!
it's retarded that something as powerful as LR
that allows you such freedom with color, size etc
doesn't have a change background color for the printed
page!!!

Hi, great tip. Just one question. If you are using a contact sheet and you set the image properties to be such that they are not auto-rotated or scaled to fit the cells exactly (so there are still parts of the cell that are not covered by the image) - how does your tip work?

When I try, my black background image covers the full page however the cell space that is not filled by the image remains white.

Do you know a work around for this?

Thanks

Great article, helpful as ever, thanks.
I use Lightroom pretty much everyday, but have yet to use the print functions at all.. I must get around to learning more.

Thanks,
Chris

Hello,
There is an other tricky way to get colored backgrounds without photoshop :
- first : go to the slideshow module, uncheck all cases except background color where you can choose your color, push to the right the top, botom, left and right cursors of the layout area, so they are at their biggest size. Clic the Export JPEG button to save a .jpeg file. Beware : once one file is created, stop the treatment or it will create as many files than you have pictures in your directory or collection.
- secondly : go to the library module an import the .jpeg file into your collection or directory.
- third : go to the print module, in the print job area : select print to a file, determine the sizes of the page, in image setting : check zoom to fill, uncheck stroke border, in layout area : put the margins cursor to their biggest size, page grid =1line and 1 column, cell spacing : to their biggest size so the colored image spread upon the whole page. then click on the print to file button to create a .jpg file.
- fourth : in the print module, select a picture and move the cursors to define marges, cells numbers, etc ...
check the identity plate and after double click over it, choose edit button, check the use a graphical identity plate, locate file button and select the .jpg file ... and here it is !
