How Old Is Your Newest Digital Camera?
This week’s reader question has an actual poll attached to it too.
I get a lot of emails from readers asking advice on which digital camera to choose or how to buy a digital camera – so I’m assuming there are quite a few of you with new cameras – but I’d be interested to see what the spread of everyone is like.
You only get one vote each – so if you have more than one digital camera – just do it for your most recent purchase.
Another quick question which you might want to comment on below – are you intending on buying a new camera in the coming months or are you happy with the camera you’ve got now?
Subscribe to DPS to get the results of this poll in the coming days.

I want to know if anyone has bought the Sony Cybershot 12.1 mp. I use a Canon 20D and a 2005 Sony cybershot (8.1) both of which I love. I don’t know about the new Sony. I choose Sony point and shoot because the microphone is so good on it that I can upload it directly to youtube etc. I am videoing live bands with room sound, not off soundboard, and i can get acceptable, usable video with the size of z credit card in my hand.
Any advice?

I’ll have to be content with my Canon 10D for the time being, new baby on the way. I keep telling myself if I can wear-out the 10D though, I’ll have earned the right to purchase a new 40D.
October 22nd, 2007 at 11:47 am
i just got my D40 .. and am very happy with it
.. great camera
October 22nd, 2007 at 11:52 am
I have had my Nikon D50 since April, and I just got a Pentax Optio W30, so other than buying accessories for the D50, I don’t plan on buying anything in the foreseable future.
October 22nd, 2007 at 11:54 am
A few weeks ago I would have said that I would stick with my Canon D30 for at least 2 years … but I just had a chance to play with a D40 and I’m seriously considering upgrading sooner rather than later.

I totally intend to buy a new camera… just as soon as Sony releases something that I’m interested in. I’m spoiled after shooting with my Maxxum 7D. The upcoming a700 and a900 look like good candidates.
October 22nd, 2007 at 12:19 pm
It’s not so much am I happy with my camera, but can I afford a new camera! I want a dSLR but can’t afford any of them:(.
October 22nd, 2007 at 12:30 pm
The Canon 40D is gonna throw this off
My newest cam before my recent purchase was an ’03 Digital Rebel (300D)
October 22nd, 2007 at 12:32 pm
I just upgraded to a Canon 40D from a Canon 350D (Digital Rebel XT). Thus far, I’m quite pleased with the purchase.
October 22nd, 2007 at 1:06 pm
D50 is about a year and a half old. It’s looking more and more likely that I’ll be purchasing a D300, D3, 14-24 f/2.8, 24-70 f/2.8 and 70-200 f/2.8 VR in the spring for grad school.
October 22nd, 2007 at 1:07 pm
Happy wi bot my D80, and D50 togther with the Nikor 50mm f1.8 and the Kit lenses, and especially my 27/90mm macro.
October 22nd, 2007 at 1:11 pm
I’ve had my XTi since March and an XT before that. I think I’d rather put my money toward a new lens before another camera, although I do look at 5Ds with just a bit of desire!
October 22nd, 2007 at 1:12 pm
Eventually, I will move up to a digital SLR. Most likely when a friend upgrades their current DSLR, I can get their old one at a nice price.
October 22nd, 2007 at 1:23 pm
ny comment should read “with both” not wi bot sorry
October 22nd, 2007 at 1:50 pm
Working up to my first dSLR now. Hope to buy the Canon by the end of the year. Very excited. This whole “saving money” thing is very slow and laborious, though. I wanna buy it now!
October 22nd, 2007 at 2:55 pm
I think I would either get the 5D or it’s replacement (once it comes out)…I’m hoping that it comes out soon so that the price for the 5D drops…a lot!
October 22nd, 2007 at 3:29 pm
By how old, do you mean “How long back was it purchased”, or “How long back was it launched”?
October 22nd, 2007 at 3:33 pm
I just got a Canon Powershot A570IS last month, and I already want to get a Canon Powershot S5IS (which I am already saving up for). Also, I do plan on getting a DSLR down the line but not anytime soon.
October 22nd, 2007 at 4:02 pm
Sandeep – purchased.
October 22nd, 2007 at 4:05 pm
Olympus E500… got it in December 2005. Right now the control wheel is a bit wacky along with the scroll wheel. Other than that, it’s working fine. Planning to get the E3 in the near future
is finances allow
October 22nd, 2007 at 4:27 pm
One week old, my Canon 40D, loving it so far.
October 22nd, 2007 at 4:47 pm
Hi Darren.
I’m not sure if I need to be a member to contribute here. But yes, I am planning to get myself a new cam, preferably a Nikon DSLR.
October 22nd, 2007 at 4:57 pm
Had my D40x since june.
October 22nd, 2007 at 6:16 pm
Except for point&shot camreras are far less important than lenses.
With a DSRL and shooting manual mode, the camera has little differences, but the lenses makes it all.
October 22nd, 2007 at 6:52 pm
Got my XTi September! Used an old Canon A80 before that, but was really enthusiastic about learning the camera, so I had previous experience with Manual Mode. The XTi is INCREDIBLY awesome for me! I’d gotten fast with settings on the A80, but DSLR ergonomics dramatically increased my efficiency!(I love having a button for FV and EV… ANNOYING to keep ‘menu trekking’ on the A80!) Gonna learn about Fine Art Photography in a course next semester (2nd year University)
October 22nd, 2007 at 6:54 pm
I must say though, I am so ready to replace my 18-55mm kit lens…
October 22nd, 2007 at 7:24 pm
I own my Nikon D40 less than a month.
It’s cool for me.
I’m not going to upgrade it for at least 1 year.
October 22nd, 2007 at 7:36 pm
I have got Canon PS A540 for 2 years but I do plan on to buy DSLR. Im dreaming about Nikon D80 but it’s expensive for me so I’ll probably buy Canon EOS 400D/XTi.
October 22nd, 2007 at 8:07 pm
I am realy happy with mi Nikon D80.
Just have some get som more and better lenses
October 22nd, 2007 at 8:56 pm
Canon 300D for the past 4 years.
40D on the horizon, if the Mrs allows it!
October 22nd, 2007 at 9:01 pm
I do love my new Nikon D80 to. Also looking forward to getting some more lenses, firstly a good macro would be nice.
October 22nd, 2007 at 11:11 pm
I currently have a Fuji Finepix 5600… have had it for just over a year now and am ready to move on up the ladder to a proper DSLR. Can’t quite decide what camera to go for – have a few months until I get my bonus so it’s research time. Any tips on the best to get for circa £500 stirling??
October 22nd, 2007 at 11:17 pm
As a 400D owner, I clickity click the one year option :]
October 22nd, 2007 at 11:29 pm
My S2IS has been going strong for 2+ years now.
October 22nd, 2007 at 11:31 pm
I’ve recently bought a Panasonic FZ8.
After finishing my first photography course, I’m thinking to upgrade it to a DSLR, probably a Canon XTi with a wide enough lens.
October 22nd, 2007 at 11:35 pm
I got Canon A710i few months back.. It has good features and my favorite Camera till now…
October 22nd, 2007 at 11:37 pm
I bought my Sony A100 about a year ago, and im fairly happy with it. That said, I am strongly considering switching to Canon (preferebly 40D!) mostly because of grain on high-iso photos
October 22nd, 2007 at 11:38 pm
I’ve had my D80 for almost a year now, and the only thing I’m looking to upgrade it a faster lens.
October 22nd, 2007 at 11:38 pm
I have a Canon 30D (April 2006) and no plans or need to upgrade the body. I have the kit lens, of course, and a couple other zoom lenses, and I do plan on upgrading/adding lenses (10-22mm soon). My wife has a Canon PowerShot SD630. I like it and wish I had my own PnS, so will probably add the latest digicam in the same line to my gig bag. It’ll be nice to have on hand when it’s less convenient to pack around a dSLR.
October 22nd, 2007 at 11:40 pm
I love my Nikon D40X. I have no intention of buying another camera, just different lenses for this one. I love my Nikon.
October 22nd, 2007 at 11:55 pm
My newest camera is a D200. It is more than enough camera for me for a while. I absolutely love it (need to get out and shoot more with it).
October 23rd, 2007 at 1:03 am
I usually try to skip at least one technology release. So I’ve hung on to my D70s, even after the D200 came out. I did a lot of lusting, but I managed to hold out.
When the D300 is released, I think it will be time to upgrade.
October 23rd, 2007 at 1:05 am
Got a Canon Powershot S2 IS with various filters right now and happy with it..
October 23rd, 2007 at 2:07 am
I’ve pre-ordered a D3, so I guess I’ll be upgrading next month!
October 23rd, 2007 at 2:11 am
The newest is less than 6 months old and the oldest – on its last legs as it can no longer remember the date – we’ve had for over four years. In between are three others. Too many cameras? Well…
October 23rd, 2007 at 2:19 am
My “Brand Spankin New” 40D is on the way and I cannot wait. Christmas in October, anyone.
October 23rd, 2007 at 2:58 am
Well, the newest is less than a week old
Got a 40D last week. Next in line is my E-500, almost two years old I think.
October 23rd, 2007 at 3:04 am
I have a Canon 30D for about 1 1/2 year. I am seriously thinking about adding a PnS – about 8 MP and 10X Opticalzoom, IS, 3″ LCD screen amongs other quality features — to serve asa solid backup. Any suggestions?
October 23rd, 2007 at 3:07 am
Happy with what I have now.
3-D3h
1-D70
Bunch o’ Lenses
Funny thing, Digital. I used F2 bodies from 1975 to 2000 and never upgraded. What makes DSLRs so “expendable,” or should I say “disposable” that one finds a need to change every year or so?
Expendable DSLRs might be a great question for another comment session.

October 23rd, 2007 at 3:26 am
I’ve been taking a minimum of 300 shots a month with my S2IS for 2 years now. Still loving it. Someone else said they had various filters for their S2IS. Didn’t know you could do that. Would love to find out more about that.
October 23rd, 2007 at 4:26 am
I delayed buying the Sony A100 and did the required research and play-tests with the similar Cannon and Nikon gear. Bought it and am extremely happy.
The A700 is now released and it has the only other feature that I’d upgrade for; Weather proofing!
Of course I can’t now justify an additional (NZ)$2.5k for another camera body.
October 23rd, 2007 at 6:44 am
I got my FZ50 4 months back in June & that’ll be my camera for next 2-3 years atleast!
October 23rd, 2007 at 6:59 am
I’ve got a Nikon D50, and I don’t plan on another camera for a while. Lenses and other accessories, sure, but I think the body will suit my needs for a while.
October 23rd, 2007 at 7:40 am
Been using a Canon 400D but just today taken delivery of a Samsung GX10 (read some reviews, thought I’d give it a try). Been messing around with it for past few hours and first impressions are very favourable.
October 23rd, 2007 at 7:46 am
I’ve had my Canon 300D (Digital Rebel) for about 4 years, and I have been wanting to upgrade for at least the last 2 years. I got the last camera by my DH, parents & in-laws all pitching in for Christmas/birthday to buy it for me. I’m hoping this year will be the same, and I’m hoping to be able to upgrade to the 40D.
October 23rd, 2007 at 7:47 am
Bought a D40 in April, upgraded to a D80 in July. When Nikon announced the D3/D300 I preordered a D300. Can’t wait to get it. I gave my D40 to my daughter.
October 23rd, 2007 at 8:57 am
It’s interesting that the poll suggests a high turn over in digital cameras but the responses (mostly about DSLRs suggest a greater retention time before upgrading). It wouldn’t be a big stretch to suggest that the high turn over is in the relatively cheap point and shoot compared to the bigger financial outlay in a DSLR.
My newest camera is a the 300D (over 4 yrs old) and I’m happy to keep that one for a while longer but I am planning to upgrade my P&S in the next couple of months which would make THAT my newest digital.
October 23rd, 2007 at 9:50 am
I bought a Nikon D80 in Feb 07. I think I love it. It takes great photos inspite of the clown pressing the buttons. It still scares me and keeps me running back to the handbook, so I think I’ll be hanging on to this one for quite a while, at least until I’m well in control and have some confidence in what I’m doing. It’s my first ever SLR.
October 23rd, 2007 at 10:29 am
I have a D70 that I got in May 2004 which is still going strong. If I had the money, I would purchase a pocket sized camera to carry with me at all times. Plus I would probably invest in a newer Nikon DSLR.
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:19 am
i have the fuji s9600 for 7 months now and im planning to upgrade it to a nikon d80 dslr. im goig to use the camera for school activities like junsen and class picture. and my bridge camera is not good for lowlight and slow on focus.
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:37 am
I have my Nikon D70 2 years, just ordered and am anxiously awaiting the new D300. With all the features, I’m sure I love it just a little more than the D70, expecially the dust reduction feature.
October 23rd, 2007 at 1:28 pm
I have a Canon 400D which I bought last Aug 07 for my bday. I am very pleased with it and its my first DSLR. Before, I only use my phone cam Sony Ericsson k750i, so it’s a big jump.
October 23rd, 2007 at 4:50 pm
I am the proud owner od Nikon D70S. I find it great and surely this will be my prime camera for years to come.
I have faith on it.
October 23rd, 2007 at 5:51 pm
Good old EOS300D, bought it in june 2005 (just after the 350D went out, big discounts)
still going well … maybe i’ll get a 40D in 2008
and i’ll get a nice mobile photo phone asap
October 23rd, 2007 at 8:43 pm
The digital camera I am using now is my first DSLR, the Nikon D80.
I am really happy with it and I believe it will take several years before I think about a new one.
I am surely going to buy some accessories however: a new tripod, some lenses and probably a flash.
October 23rd, 2007 at 10:00 pm
Initially wanted to get the Canon EOS 400D but now plan on getting the Nikon D80 with 18-70mm lens kit for Christmas or boxing day sale.
Will get tele zoom lens later.
October 24th, 2007 at 1:08 am
I have been using my Sony Cybershot DSC-P93A for a couple of years now. I’d really like to purchase a new camera but I am going to wait until I can afford a Canon Rebel XT or XTi.
October 26th, 2007 at 11:49 am
UPS guy just dropped the xti off last night!
October 26th, 2007 at 12:55 pm
Can never have enough digital camera’s. Bought a Nikon D40 about 2 months ago. It was my 5th digital camera. I love my Nikon but I’m always ready to see what’s coming up next.
October 26th, 2007 at 8:16 pm
I’ve been using my Canon 20D for awhile now and have been very satisfied. With the new 40D out though, I’d love to get a new camera, but I keep waiting to see if they’re going to upgrade the 5D first.
October 26th, 2007 at 11:54 pm
I’m happy with my 10D (apart from the startup time lag), but the 5D would be nice…..
October 27th, 2007 at 4:35 am
I bought a Canon 5D and a Rebel XTi in January. Now I would like to trade in my Rebel and get the new 40D–it wouldn’t be such a big ‘mental’ change when I switch from the 5D. On the other hand, the Rebel is so light and simple to use, it’s kind of like a point and shoot (OK. I was using medium format film cameras up until January!).
October 27th, 2007 at 6:00 am
I bought the Nikon D40X, my first SLR camera -love, love, love it!! The only purchase I am thinking about now is a longer zoom lens – perhaps the 55-300mm – any thoughts from anyone about it??
October 27th, 2007 at 6:02 am
I bought the Nikon D40X, my first SLR camera – luv, luv, luv it! I am thinking about purchasing the 50-300mm lense – anyone have any thoughts about it? Thanks.
October 27th, 2007 at 1:23 pm
Canon Rebel XTi – love it! Better lense would be great, but for now the one that came with it will have to do. Also have a 75-300 from my Canon film SLR – one of the reasons I stayed with Canon. I have had the XTi almost 1 year now and have taken over 8,000 pix!!
October 27th, 2007 at 2:49 pm
30D (not the D30) to Rebel to Rebel XT and now the D40 looms before me. Somebody has to stop me………
October 27th, 2007 at 3:04 pm
I received my very first digital camera for Christmas, 2005. My brother gave me a Sony Cybershot 4.1 MP w/ movie mode. I am very happy with it. I just discovered how to use the movie mode last January and I was very impressed with the quality of the video as well as the audio feature. I plan on keeping it for a while. I’m enjoying the adventure of learning all of the different features that it offers.
October 27th, 2007 at 7:02 pm
Upgraded my Nikons this past Spring: sold my Coolpix 5300 and D50 and bought a Coolpix P5000, a D80 and a couple of new lenses. That oughta hold me for a while. Or as Ol’ Wotserface put it: “You can afford another camera. You cannot afford a divorce.”
October 28th, 2007 at 1:58 am
still using my Canon 1D mark I and still happy with it. the resolution 4mpx isn’t much but when i need massive quality, i shoot 120film.. superb and reflexive camera
October 30th, 2007 at 11:24 am
Bought my 40D four weeks ago in Shanghai, after leaving my camera bag – including 400D XTi – where it seems a clumsy bellhop got ahold of my lightweight camera bag and dropped it. Couldn’t see being in China without a camera for the last week. Now have those two plus the original 350D XT. Learned: carry camera in a padded bag; make that cameras in event of mishap; never set it down and turn my back.
BTW, in China the manual is in Chinese and the camera’s settings are also in – what else? – Chinese. Fortunately the counter guy changed it to English for me.
November 8th, 2007 at 10:51 am
I grabbed a Fujifilm FinePix F50se from Best Buy on Labor Day. I am very happy. This is my 7th digital camera and by far the most fun to use. The rapid fire mode, about 4 frames per second, maks capturing good shots of my grandchildren very easy. The dual anti-shake is great for an old timer too.
November 11th, 2007 at 1:17 am
I have sony’s 7.2 megapixels dsc-s650 camera which i bought about 4 months ago. It has good print out result but lacks slimness and lithium battery.
January 27th, 2008 at 1:48 am
I purchased my Canon S3 Is last summer. I’m happy with the camera, but not with my photographys skills. I’ve still so much to learn about this camera and photography in general. Thanks to this website, I’ve already learned so much. I’ve got my eye on an Olympus SP-570 Ultra Zoom that’s due out in March of this year. Unfortunately, I’ll have to save up about a whole year and a half to buy it.
January 27th, 2008 at 5:21 pm
Two months now with my Fuji S9100 and for the most part pleased with it. Retired and so like many other folks here, it will be quite a while before the next one.
February 1st, 2008 at 5:46 am
I’ve been using a Canon 20D for the last couple of years and have been very happy with it. Main issues have been around keeping the sensor clean.
I’m trying to avoid equipment lust and I’m greatly helped with this by my financial situation.
Nonetheless, I would LOVE to get the 40D when finanaces permit. It’s like Canon took a peek at my “wish list” for improvements to the 20D then built the 40D: brighter viewfinder, bigger LCD, cleaner image capture, auto sensor cleaning, spot metering, ISO selection in viewfinder, live view with magnification to assist manual focus (enjoy macro photography), 2 second timer (too lazy to connect remote release sometimes) – the list goes on and on.
I think I need another job.
BTW, I don’t work for Canon LOL
July 19th, 2008 at 11:50 pm
I bought my first DSLR camera 2 months ago. A Nikon D40 with the Nikkor 18mm-55mm non VR lens and the Nikkor 55mm-200mm VR lens and I couldn’t be more happy. I will eventually move up as I can afford to. Hope you all have a happy photography day.
July 22nd, 2008 at 1:42 am
I have had my Canon 5D one month short of a year and a half. I am very pleased and happy with it yet still have much to learn of it’s menu. My biggest tug on my financial conscious now is a longer lens than the 300mm with the 1.4 extender that I mostly use. My main “focus” is wildlife, mostly birds in flight. Now I want the 6oomm that I saw recently but for $7000……….no way in the foreseeable future!
November 5th, 2008 at 11:03 am
Right now I have a Canon Powershot A510. It still is working fine, although not as great as it used to, and right now I’m looking around for another one. I’m thinking about a Canon SX110 IS. I would love a dSLR, but they’re too expensive for me and too bulky for the times I would use it.
May 10th, 2009 at 10:36 am
I have just upgraded from the pentax k10d to the k20d with two new lenses. US$1500.
Although I live in Australia it was cheaper to buy from the US.
August 7th, 2009 at 1:39 am
Mine is 3 weeks old, Panasonic Lumix G1. I just upgraded from Canon A630.
I wasn’t too pleased about the G1, thinking of getting Canon 450D with 50mm f1.4 lens.
August 7th, 2009 at 5:10 pm
Owner of a 350D for over four years and invested in CANON professional glass, meanwhile I am looking forward to own a full frame 5D MkII body.
August 25th, 2009 at 4:50 pm
I started with a Kodak compact but it was too slow, so i delved into the world of dslr cameras with an olympus E420. After a couple of months i fell in love with photography and bit the bullet and bought an E520. However i started to take it more seriously studying from scratch being a total novice I then bought an E30 a couple of months ago and i love it.
September 7th, 2009 at 8:05 am
I got my D700 about three weeks ago… YAY, I’m so happy with the camera. Before this I was shooting with a D300, I figure I sacrificed higher frame rate for much, much higher quality. This is the best camera I have owned and think this will be it for me for the next few years.
September 8th, 2009 at 10:16 pm
Two weeks old – Canon EOS 5D Mk II – beautiful piece of kit with a great lens (24-105mm) to replace my old faithful 10D and to complement my 50mm f/1.4, which is a stunning lens.
I shall not be buying another SLR for about 25 years given the amount I’ve just forked out…
September 12th, 2009 at 12:52 am
Sony Alpha a100. Bought used in January, the previous owner had it a year before I bought it. Looking back I have most of my cameras around 2yrs before I upgrade…
2002 Fuji 1300 1.3MP P&S
2004 Fuji S5500
2007 Nikon D70 had for 3months then swapped for Fuji S9000. Sold the S9000 for €200 to pay for the Sony.
2009 Sony Alpha a100 (cost €200 with kit lens). Think now I’ll be concentrating on lens instead of cameras.
October 19th, 2009 at 2:27 am
My newest DSRL is a Canon 5D Mark II, paid $2600.99. I have had the camera for about three months. Fantastic camera! I never take any trips without a backup camera, so I also have a Canon D450. I still have my original Canon digital Rebel, which I had converted to IR. If you have never tried IR photography, I highly recommend it; we can get some real wild shots. I usually keep my 24-105 L on my 5D MKII and my 70-200 L on my 450D, so I rarely need to change lens in the field.
P.S. if you plan to take the leap to a camera like the 5D MKII, set some money aside for a few fast 32GB CF cards.
October 24th, 2009 at 12:29 am
This is almost my third year having my second LEICA M8. It is my faithful companion everywhere and comlements me with my first one, my DMR/ R8, R9/, Nikon, as well as with Lumix G1. Using the Lens adapters I can adjust to any photo application.
May 10th, 2010 at 10:42 am
I still have my D40, but about 60 days ago, I got my D90 and added a 105mm and a 18mm-250mm to go with my 50mm f1.8, a 70mm-300mm telephoto, and the kit lens which is a 18mm-55mm (will probably see craigslist pretty soon. I must say that I love my D90!
May 11th, 2010 at 3:37 am
I got a D90 in Dec 09 and I love it!

My newest is a 5dII which is just under a year old. I also have a 20D, which is over five years old, that I use with my longer lenses when I have both cameras.

I bought my first DSLR in 2003, Nikon D100. I have used it to take 5K , 10K and Marathon races ever since then and it is still going strong. Only had to replace the shutter one on it. I take about 15,000+ photos a year with it. I just love it. I am planning on getting a new D700 to replace it here in the near further. I do nature and underwater photography. I am planing on getting a underwater housing for the D700 since my Nikonus 5′s have bit the dust on me.

Just got a Nikon D90 to replace my old D70. WOW! what a difference in capabilities. Far less trouble shooting at high ISO numbers. The D70 was bad past 400 while the d90 can easily go to 1600 in most lighting conditions. As for the use of SD cards . . . not as happy with them. They are just too small and can be a pain in the neck to keep track of.

I have owned my Canon 30D since May of 2008 – love it! I leave the 24-70L lens on it and use my original digital rebel (purchased March 2004) with the 28-135 lens. I carry the 70-300 lens and use it on the rebel for great outside shots. I have the original 18-55 kit lens that came with my rebel and I have added a 50mm f/1.8 to my collection of lenses. I look forward to owning a full frame (Canon) camera someday.

i have a rebel xsi and i kould say its a good device and now i am working with a 50D and i wouldnt say UPGRADED kuz both work very good. only the pixel topic and the live view options… its all about the person behind the camera.

My newest purchase is a Canon 5DMarkII. I have to say I am LOVING it! It was a small fortune, but it has been worth every penny. I need to only look at my results and I know I did the right thing!

My newest DSLR is a Sony 550 14.2 meg… It is my second sony and I like it even more then amy original… A dslr camera is better for my type of photos, live birds, other wildlife and going to air force flying shows… I need the shutter speed that a point and shoot does not give you… It is a little heavier camera then a P&S but the results are well worth it… I also have several different zoom lens that improve my pictures as well… Len change is easy & fast…

I have a Nikon D300 and find it very adaptable to my demands on a camera. At this stage I have no desire to change as the end product and capabilities of the camera are excellent.

My first DSLR was a Nikon D3000 I bought last year right after it came out to replace the D60. I bought another Nikon earlier this year and got a D100 that was originally sold in 2002. I love them both and use both regularly on shoots. The D100 does require a lot more time and thought than my D3000 but has a lot of features the D3000 doesn’t have. If I had it to do over again I would have bought the D100 first.

I have gone from a Panasonic FZ50 and a Canon G7 to a Canon 7D with an 18/270mm Tamron lens and it ia big culture shock where my smaller cameras are made to give color like I see it the bigger camera is more for manipulation in photo shop etc and color is different
I have only had the 7D for 4 weeks and I find it quite daunting and now have to think before I shoot where as with my other smaller cameras it was point and shoot so easy.

Just purchased a Canon SX210iS PowerShot. Massive optical zoom 14x, great photos but no RAW option which is disappointing. Nice compact camera and is a great substitute for my Canon EOS 7D which is a monster in size comparison.

Hey – I’ve had my Pentax K20D for a about 18 months. I love it and don’t have any interest in upgrading anytime soon.
Though I can say I am interested in upgrading my P&S.

I purchased a Canon 7D last year when Canon had their rebates during the summer. I also got a Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-4.6 IS USM & a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM. I got a great deal by buying the body with the lenses at a super price with Canon rebates.
I always wait for a rebate period before buying.

ive had my canon 550D for nearly a year…
its my first camera and well…
i think im not going to uprgade for a long long time…
its like ive just got the hang of it and learned a lot about it…
but i need a bit more hands on practice anyways…
id rather invest in an off cam flash… and a few good lenses first…
and by the look of things… it looks like that is going to take some time too
lol

I bought my first DSLR in 2000. It was an Olympus C2500L. It was “affordable” and the shop took my Nikon N2000 and full kit on trade-in. I have since upgraded as follows (all Nikons): D70s; D300; D700 with the D700 bought in December 2010.

By the way, it’s my very first DSLR. I guess that’s why I’m so excited about it!
