That sounds like a great deal for new and old photographers alike. I think it is important, however good you are to read other peoples ideas and concepts, if there is just one line in the ebook that makes you approach a situation in a new way then it is well worth the money and if you don’t buy it you will never know.
Good luck with this Darren, hope it is as good as your portrait guide and sells as well!!!
Thanks again

Bought this with the pre-order coupon I had from the Portraits ebook. Excellent book, great step by step. It’s like a photography textbook, but written now and by someone currently working in the field. (which is opposite the textbooks offered at my local college)
The design and layout by Naomi Creek is great as well – this book is a pleasure from start to finish. The animated diagrams are really helpful, and something we couldn’t have done in traditional print media.
I’ve skimmed through, but now I need to go through and read it from beginning to end. Already from my skimming I’ve come across simple explanations for things that until now seemed backwards or contradictory to real life.
Excellent resource – I thought I was happy with what I had, and I liked the portrait e-book – but this one is by far the better buy. I’ll be suggesting it to anyone I know with a camera.

I have only one word to say about that: WOW!
And thank you…

This is a great topic for a beginner’s book. Your being able to take great photographs is in direct proportion with your knowledge of your camera.
I tell all beginners I speak to – know your camera, know your settings, know your light – trust your instincts.

Fantastic – I downloaded it a few hours back and have found it incredibly enlightening. I can’t wait to get out this weekend with my camera and put what I’m learning into practice. It’s great to have it all in one easy to use guide – Neil’s a gifted communicator.

Hey, nice book – just one thing: spotted a spelling mistake in your sample tables of content screenshot above – ‘About the Autor’. Might want to fix that one!
Otherwise awesome job.
Keep up the goodwork Darren (and Neil)!

are you going to have this book on amazon?
January 24th, 2010 at 7:43 pm
In a blog that takes such pride in the improvement and skill of photography and design, one would think a graphic for buying a book from that blog would tactfully come across with a more discerning taste that didn’t scream “cheap” or “scam”…

If you want to make this a download printable, dont print it with a dark background. Black font on a brown background is hard to read! What were you thinking?
January 29th, 2010 at 7:30 pm
I’m interested to know which pages you are talking about being hard to read? Are you meaning the resources section, as that is black on orange. Ebooks are primarily made to be read on a computer. I don’t have a problem with readability on my screen or when I print it out.

To naomicree
I am talking about the cover, pages 2 (after the cover), 3, 9 and all ressources pages, lessons title pages, 63 and 64. Not only they are harder to read but they consumate lots of ink.
February 3rd, 2010 at 6:33 am
I agree with naomicree. The e-Book is commonly designed for screen, not print as a traditional one. Use an e-book reader or a smart phone if you wish to bring with yourself. I bought it and like it.
Cheers, Laszlo

WOW, very informative. Learned alot just after Lesson 1.
Question: I have Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro on my computer and the animated diagrams don’t work. Tried it on another PC with Adobe Reader 9 and the animated diagrams work. I their a “plug-in” I can download so the animated diagrams work on Acrobat 8 Pro?
Thanks for an outstanding ebook.
April 20th, 2010 at 10:52 am
Hi Ray
Glad to hear you found the book a valuable resource. I’m not sure about a plugin for Acrobat 8. To get the animated graphics to work well, the file has been optimised for Acrobat Reader 9. Could you download Acrobat Reader 9 for viewing purposes as it is free.
Cheers
Naomi

lol

Just purchased it. Read the first few pages so far as I’m at work and it seems great guys! I was reluctant to spend $20 on any book let alone an ebook but I feel it’s more of an investment than anything. I can improve my techniques (they need it) and hopefully, someday, sell some services!

Hello: I would like a refund for this book. I bought this book a few days ago and it’s really not what I’m looking for. I’m a very new photographer and I found this book a little too confusing for me. I think I’m looking for something less advanced. Please direct me to where I need to go for a refund. Thank you!
