The f200exr uses "pixel binning" to achieve lower noise high ISO pictures. Picture binning isn't new to pocket cameras. Fujifilm claims that its new exr sensor is optimized for pixel binning. DPReview discusses it here:

http://www.dpreview.com/news/0809/08092210fujifilmEXR.asp

I'm not convinced that this optimized sensor will improve the f200exr enough to outperform the old fujifilm f20 or f30 series cameras. I'm not saying that it won't, I just have a "wait and see" attitude. The sample pictures look promising. You can see a list of sample pictures and other f200exr info at my website.

Sounds a fabulous point n shoot! However can you really see the screen in ANY light; if not, now do you frame up when there is no eyepiece?

I'm impressed with all this camera has to offer but with one big exception - it does not have a view finder, which I consider essential to get sharp, well composed pictures. With so called "live view", what do you do in bright sunlight when the LCD image gets washed out no matter how you try to shade it? And how do you hold the camera steady when it is extended at arm's length if you're near sighted, even with glasses on, and with the image jouncing around ? Nothing beats the steadyness of when the camera is held firmly against your face, against your eye and cheek with elbows tucked in! Geo.Kravis

This camera sounds cool. Its a clever way to get out of the (pointless) megapixel race, while still being able to put the big numbers on the box.

Of the 3 modes, the 12mp one is the least interesting... the others are essentially going back to 6mp images (which is basically all people need) but with added benefits.
I wonder if the new CCD arrangement will harm it's 12mp image quality though?

This sounds like an awesome pocket camera... though I really wish it had more than a 5x zoom.
But you can't have everything...

Well I am in the market for a new pocket cam and I must the the specs of this little beast sure has me interested, particularly the non-auto mode options. I'll be keeping an eye out for serious reviews on this one

Great idea of using the sensor in these specialized ways. I wonder how well it is executed. It is a small sensor after all...
