I have just bought this software. Beware, there is no customer support phone number. Vertus states that I can use this software on 2 computers but the license only works on one. Every time I write to them they give me very vague instructions about how to get this software on my other computer. So far, to no avail. The software seems to work great but their customer service is terrible.

i bought it but it doesn work with CS4. the plug in is in the right place but photoshop keeps crashing. Anybody knows why??

The only plugins that I am aware of like this for Final Cut Pro are specifically for chroma keying (where the background is a solid colour, usually green or blue):

- zMatte (http://www.digitalfilmtools.com/zmatte/)

Also, Final Cut Pro itself comes with some basic chroma keying tools.

Looks great, but I’m wondering how does it handle the cutout when you import the image into desktop publishing software such as InDesign? ie can you place it on coloured backgrounds etc? If so, then this would definitely be a very useful piece of software

I use FM3 extensively for cutting out team and portrait photos for sports. It’s an amazing program. To answer your question Chris, I have done cutouts with both plain backgrounds, and with very complicated ones, like trees behind people. The results are excellent, thought more complicated backgrounds take longer (obviously)

With the work that we do, it is mostly kids/teens, so as you can imagine we get some pretty out there hair styles, and that’s what I love about FM3, is that it retains all of the hair. THis has set us apart from our opposition who still cut out with the pen tool, and give the kids “hair cuts”

I have my workflow down to less than 2 minutes on a portrait, and less than 10 on a team of 25+ kids. Speed for me is critical, as we can have over 200 kids in a shoot.

Steve & Rex, I haven’t personally tried EZ mask or Mask Pro 4.1, so I can’t comment.

Chris, the images have been accidentally flipped. The original is the one with the background. The background has been removed with FM3 to produce the new white background.
