Thank you so much for your tutorial, what a wonderful introduction to the flexibility of Photoshop. I did use curves before stumbling on your tutorial, but now I see that using Curves is comparable to using a cleaver for fruit carving instead of a paring knife

If you want to an easy path to unlocking the powers of Photoshop, get to know your blending sliders. They provide so much power to image manipulation.

Combine them with layer adjustments to target a subset range, blended seamlessly.

Seems a bit complicated. Why not use curves? It would be much faster. Just a thought. Thanks for sharing this.

Thanks a ton. This was something I always used to search for in Photoshop. This is particularly useful when you have bright highlights and dark areas too... And I have confronted that a lot!!! Let me play around with this to find more! :)
Thanks again!

Aperture has a 'Definition' slider which is similar in effect to the 'Clarity' slider in Lighroom.

Excellent. Thank you, Helen. I'm going to do a comparison to see if there is a difference between doing it this way and modfying curves.

You can open jpegs and tiffs in Camera raw and use the clarity adjustment in Photoshop along with all the other adjustments.
