Don`t have a G11, but a friend of mine does. Havent done any real comapasing between them, but I would say G11 is as good as G10 + - a few extras. If you will go with G11 you will deffenetly not go wrong. It still is point and shoot, don`t forget that.

Can anyone tell me if the difference between the Canon G10 and G11 is great. I want to buy a point and shoot to keep with me at all times...my Rebel XTI is too heavy and bulky to carry all the time. There is quite a difference in price between the G10 and G11. Yet the G11 sounds great. Has anyone used either camera ? I would rather buy the G11 if it is as good as the G10 becuse it is nuch less expensive.
Would appreciate any help....

Personally, I think this camera is pretty sweet. Jack Neubart recently published a field test review of the Canon G10 on Photocrati... and he gives it a thumbs up.

G10 doesn't have 1024x768 video, which the G9 has. I'm sticking with my G9 until the sensor quality improves in this line.

Well I had both G9 and now I own a G10. Both a have to say are great. Buttons on G10 a much batter positioned. Everything else is more or less the same. (+ -).

- is less zoom, which I miss a lot.

Quality of the pics is great, specialy at low ISO, at high ISO is very grainy (800 and up). 400 is , hmm....let say still OK.

I do generaly use my old EOS 3, and 20D, if I will have money will still like to go for 5d mark II, specialy speed and lenses ( I have a lot of those)

Canon really does ofer some accessories to go along this camera, tele, wide angle, etc. I have never used them, they do look kind a ....dont know how to put it....not proffesionaly made. Sorry for this. Also I would say that quality of the pics becomes a big isue, by mine oppinion not wort it, but let someone who has it and use it say more about it.

Camera alone - higly recomended (both G9 or G10)

I don't know how you could love this camera so much.

I used to be an owner of a G9, and I went from loving it to hating it in weeks. The noise handling is absolute horse crap. I couldn't shoot above ISO 200 without getting images that looked more grainer than a shaved butt. The camera acted like a shaved butt too.

The D40 is just as compact and does much better in terms of noise.

Screw small sensor cameras.

I borrowed a G9 earlier in the year for a trip, and purchased a G10 about 2 months ago - for my purposes the G10 is much better than its predecessor. I use my camera mostly for underwater photography, and having been lucky enough to get hold of the 'very scarce' housing, I took some wonderful shots with the G10. For me wide angle is much better than zoom (underwater you only get to shoot what you can get light on, so long zooms are useless). SLR's would be an option if the housings didn't cost so much - 4-5 times the price of the G10 housing. Anyway for me the G10 rocks.
