Hey Richard, try a different printer cable. I know it sounds odd, but I was having a similar issue where my 9000Mrkii would print fine off my newer laptop and wouldn't print right off my desktop computer. I was using the same printer USB cable for both, but on a whim I tried the cable from my mom's computer and the problem was resolved.

Hope someone can help here.
I purchased the Mk II about 6 months ago & found it very slow, When printing on A4 full colour (Photobook prints) in gives up half way through & ejects the paper, the help section suggests the file size is too big but I have tried PSD & jpeg medium files from photo shop with the same result.
Hopefully someone can help or have I just wasted best part of a grand.

I have a EOS Canon 5D with a 580 EX strob. Most of my flash photos are either very dark in the background,
or burned in the foreground (groups of people) any ideas. Whole different ballgame from film.

Thanks

I'm surprised you didn't mention that the 9000 (old and new) uses dye based inks and the 9500 (old and new) uses pigment inks. That's the big difference between them, not speed. And, the extra tanks in the 9500 are for doing black and white work (they're black inks).

I have the first version of the 9000 and it's a wonderful printer. My guess is the MK II is a bit faster and has an improved paper feed mechanism.

The 9500 has not been a big seller and I'm not sure exactly why. Epson pretty much owns this category (pigment printers) although I've heard great things about Canon's Lucia ink system on the higher end printers. The 9500 has the same ink system so I'm not sure what could be so bad about it.

I'd love to read an actual review from someone who's used one and also used a 9000. I hope you'll consider writing one.

Apart from the claimed speed improvements, the other two "major" differences are:
• Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 and Canon Easy-PhotoPrint Pro plug-in software included
• Ambient Light Correction feature

I own a 9000 printer (mark I) and am very happy with it. Looks like the new one is a bit faster but that's about it. Only thing confusing me about the press release is the claimed 27 minutes for printing an A3+. I regularly print that size with images that have a resolution of 350 dpi at 13 x 19 inches and my prints take less than 10 minutes at best quality. Haven't timed them but am sure they are hugely under 10 minutes.
Also, for some time now, you can download the latest driver which gives the 9000 16 bits per channel printing capability from Windows so nothing new there I'm afraid. Been printing 16bpc since December I think...Damned if I can see a diference...

Cyan page count, never heard of that being an important factor when choosing a printer. It might have to do with the fact that the 9000 is Dye based ink and the 9500 is pigment based ink.
