Camera- this is my first DSLR so i cant compare but as total newbie to DSLR world, I am wowed by the AF system and just the grips- fits well in my hands even though very heavy with 28-135 lens it came with. but great great pic so far. I am still learning how to use and enjoy it Just got this camera with a bonus points thru a company appreciation program, Free 99 and free shipping too,, love it.

Yeah, if you plan on not using full frame at all 17-55mm f 2.8 has the bonus of IS (instead of L24-70mm f2.8)

What about maybe -

- a nice wide angle – Canon 24 mm f 1.4 is supposed to be pretty nice (or even the 16-24mm f 2.8), or SIGMA 30 mm f1.4 is meant to be really good value and very well regarded

- or even a Canon 85mm f1.2 or 85mm f1.8 – for portraits and wedding shots.
