My wife and i ended up being fulfilled that Jordan could finish off his preliminary research via the precious recommendations he got while using the site. It is now and again perplexing just to continually be making a gift of tips and tricks some people have been trying to sell. And we also discover we've got the blog owner to give thanks to for this. All of the illustrations you have made, the straightforward site menu, the friendships you can make it easier to create - it is most amazing, and it's really making our son in addition to the family feel that that content is enjoyable, and that is truly vital. Many thanks for the whole thing!

Just got this camera with a bonus points thru a company appreciation program, Free 99 and free shipping too,, love it.
Camera- this is my first DSLR so i cant compare but as total newbie to DSLR world, I am wowed by the AF system and just the grips- fits well in my hands even though very heavy with 28-135 lens it came with. but great great pic so far. I am still learning how to use and enjoy it

Yes KP they are all with Australian Canon Warranty. No grey imports or whatever they are called?!?! lol

I have been told that it will be a bit of a wait to get your hands on one in Australia unless you have pre-ordered! Extremely popular by the looks!

I'm going to go down and take a look when the first ones come in to stores........ still thinking I'll wait and see what the general photographic public think before I make my decision! I mean Canon are always going to tell you their stuff is great right???

just checked Canon's Australian website - their current Canon recommended retail on 7D is now $2,700 -

hopefully most retailers will have it below the official price - fingers crossed if Aust dollar keeps going up and up, and so the price will keep coming down - though really like to be able to wait till new Canon D4 or Ds4 come out - maybe 7D price come down again then - and wuld really like more than 15 shot buffer in raw with 8 frames per second - and hope autofocus work much better than 40D in practice - full frame would be nice - and wonder what start price will be on DMk4 and DsMk4 or whatever Canon is making - we been waiting a while - can hardly wait now :)

Hey Jane:-

- great prices :) - very tempting at that price - are they with an Australian Canon Warranty??

- Teds Camera stores also now have Canon 7D advertised for $2600 pre-order for October - www.teds.com

Hi Addza,

The best of those lens are meant to be the L 24-70mm f 2.8 and also L 70-200mm f 2.8 IS.

Yeah, if you plan on not using full frame at all 17-55mm f 2.8 has the bonus of IS (instead of L24-70mm f2.8)

What about maybe -

- a nice wide angle - Canon 24 mm f 1.4 is supposed to be pretty nice (or even the 16-24mm f 2.8), or SIGMA 30 mm f1.4 is meant to be really good value and very well regarded

- or even a Canon 85mm f1.2 or 85mm f1.8 - for portraits and wedding shots.

See
- www.dpreview.com

Cannot recommend the Canon 50 mm f1.4 for pro low light photography at weddings - see the reviews - it can be inconsistent and too soft at larger f values (tho low light is the reason why u buy it!). told u can get some re-callibrated, but no cant recommend it sadly - the Canon 50 f1.2 is meant to be brilliant (if u can afford it)

Ok, so from someone who's about to enter the semi/pro market for the first time and looking at the 7D with one day upgrading to full frame..., what's everyone's advice for a 2 or 3 lens combo for weddings/portraits etc...???
Lenses i'm currently looking between-
 1) Canon EF-S 17-55mm F2.8 IS (which sounds like a great lens even though its not L series…and reasonably priced….which I’d keep for the 7D after full frame upgrade)
2) Canon USM L-series 24-105mm f4
3) Canon USM L-series 24-70mm f2.8
4) Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 USM IS L or the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 USM IS L
5) Canon 50mm 1.4 Lens
6) Canon 100mm 1.8 Macro Lens
If you could only afford 2 or 3 lenses... which combo would you buy?
Also, for AUS guys, anyone bought through 'cameras direct' online before?
