Behind the Scenes of a Client Shoot
Jaren from UtahPhotoJournalism.com shot me a link earlier this week to the following video which is a behind the scenes glimpse at a shoot illustrating banruptcy that they shot by breaking piggy banks and shooting them at 1/8000 second with the new pocket wizards.

Loved the concept! A few weeks ago I was testing the master/slave flash setup with Canon Speedlite’s. and I am pretty sure (red face) we got something wrong from the get go and couldn’t make them work, one of those days.
I loved their setup and concept, pretty creative and quite interesting photos of the piggy banks breaking up.

BYU Photo also has another great behind the scenes video on the salt flats shooting a football team! Amazing stuff!

I didn’t see any safety glasses!

Very cool. I love it when photographers take the time to allow others to see what is going on behind the scenes and how they got the shot. thanks for sharing!

Love the concept, looks like fun. My advice… consider eye safety – the female assistant is very close to flying particles – hate to get a sharp one in the eye – not to mention the photographer.

My husband and I are both BYU alums, and my husband actually got an email a couple months back about the bankruptcy article these photos were taken for. He recognized the photos as I was watching the video. We were both pretty excited to make that connection, especially since the professor who wrote the article was one of my econ teachers at BYU. Small world!

Amazing shots! A great advertisement for these pocket wizards! My radio poppers only synchronize at 1/125 of a sec. I sometimes kick myself for being a tightwad! This technology has been rapidly improving. I will eventually upgrade! Thanks for sharing.

I have to agree with SteveSalt. The first thing that came to mind when I saw this was that nobody had safety glasses on.

The alternate name for this video: How To Lose an Eye – Behind The Scenes.
Seriously, for all the prep work that went into doing this shoot and making this video, you think they’d remember safety glasses.
