My favorites are on the list. The Canon EF 400 f5.6L USM is my #1 lens. It's so sharp it hurts. I usually leave my Canon EF-S 10-22 f3.5-4.5 USM on the camera for walking around and tend to shoot at the wide end.

Interesting lists, but surprised at the lack of wide angle prime lenses for either camera. When I shot with
Canon, the 35mm f1.4 was a favorite and it's hard to beat the 24mm f1.4 either. Yet Canon offers several
"budget" primes which are well worth considering, the 28mm f1.8 and the 20mm f2.8. While I haven't used
Nikon for a number of years, the new 35mm f2.0 is a great lens if limited to the small frame DSLR's. It's hard to beat the Zeiss 21mm in that focal lenth and the Zeiss 50mm f1.4 and 85mm f.14 in either Canon or Nikon
mounts when comparing glass solutions. Personally I'll take my 35mm Summilux ASPH and challenge
anyone to find a better lens.

I agree with Chris above. The CZ 27-70 is a great lens. Heavy, so I don't carry it around, but for portraits it brings out beautiful colors and contrast.
My second best lens, but one I use much more than the Zeiss, is the Tamron 2.8/70-200. Great for outdoors work, but again, not one I carry around for doing my daily street photography. For that, I use the old Minolta 4-4.5/28-135 (great range!) lens. It provides the opportunity to zoom in but also lets me photograph an entire crowd or interesting building when I need to.

To Chris - I'll tell you what beats the CZ 24-70/2.8 ... the Tamron 24-70/2.8! Sharper, half the price (oreven one third) and a better lens across the board. I know people like to get all worked up about the CZ lenses but (and I've used them extensively, including the 80/1.4 - which gets a run for it's money from the Samyang 80mm!)... they are the most overrated lenses on the market!

To Julie - being a Sony fan myself I know how you feel. Every photography site seems dedicated to the 'big two'. Those Zuiko lenses are amazing - contrary to the CZ lenses the Zuikos are the most underrated lenses on the market. You just keep enjoying what are some of the best glass money can buy (be sure not to let those Nikon and Canon dullards know your secret!)
